Switching and Protection for Battery systems in Rolling stock
—
What is a battery system?
Batteries are the systems where the energy generated from the catenary or generator is stored to be used at a later time. In this way, even when the main source of energy fails or is disconnected, batteries guarantee power continuity.

Switching and Protection for Battery systems in Rolling stock
Auxiliary power supply systems
Onboard auxiliary power includes the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), control system, communication, monitoring and indicators, break compressors, battery chargers, signaling and lighting systems. These systems are critical for rolling stock operation and passenger comfort and requires power redundancy.
Discover our Switching & Protection solutions to keep auxiliary power circuits running in any condition.
Batteries for hybrid systems
A hybrid system has minimum 2 power sources including energy storage system (ESS) on board to achieve the following features
- Improve energy and fuel efficiency by uninterrupted running in the event of the loss of the primary power source and acceleration improvement.
- Reducing fuel consumption and emissions (e.g. CO2, NOx, etc.)
- Reduce environmental impact (e.g. noise, etc.).
With our Application bundle we provide full protection for batteries in Hybrid Systems.
