ABB & BREEAM International New Construction 2021 v6 credits
What is BREEAM
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is considered the world's leading method for assessing sustainability in the construction sector. The system assesses the environmental, social and economic sustainability performance of buildings, communities and infrastructure projects.
As an internationally recognized mark of quality, the certification provides guidelines for companies seeking to reduce their environmental impact when refurbishing existing buildings or constructing new ones. To obtain a BREEAM certificate for a building, independent assessors review the extent to which a building meets regulatory standards and evaluate how the building compares to market performance. The assessment results in the building receiving a classification ranging from 'Pass' to 'Outstanding’.

What are BREEAM & categories?
The purpose of classification is to allow comparability between projects and to provide certainty to customers and users. In total, a building can earn X BREEAM credits in 10 different categories (the number of points depends on the type of building being constructed). Each of these categories consists of different parameters that measure sustainable value, from energy to ecology.
