There are positive signs across the investment sector that building decarbonization and energy efficiency are taking hold in investment strategies. Investment in energy-efficient buildings increased for the first time in three years in 2019, with building energy efficiency across global markets increasing to USD $152 billion, 3% more than the previous year. However, this is only a small proportion of the USD $5.8 trillion spent in total in the building and construction sector globally.
